Chairs

Check for wobbly legs, which often happens, and stabilise accordingly.
Chairs sometimes warp over time so that one or more legs are no longer the same length, causing the chair to wobble when sitting.
Seat surfaces checked for old & loose areas and re-glued if necessary.

The result is a fresh-looking, ready-to-live-in chair that still shows its age, which is absolutely intentional. We offer a 12-month guarantee on our work.

Restored condition:

You can tell us whether we can sand down the chair completely and paint it in the colour of your choice. For ideological reasons, we only recommend this for bistro chairs (e.g. the Horgenglarus Classic models). Please enquire about the price.

Tables

Tables with wooden legs:

Checked for wobbly legs, stabilised again
The legs can sometimes warp over time or have not been repaired well in the past so that, for example, one leg is no longer the same length as the others. This is checked and corrected if necessary.
The table top must be cleaned as a minimum for hygiene reasons. We draw on a wealth of experience to decide the extent to which the table top is sanded, depending on its condition and the desired result. Either the old finish (lacquer or oil) is completely sanded off and freshly oiled or only minimally sanded and sealed with wax.

Tables with cast iron legs:

The table tops often do not have a substructure to securely mount the cast iron legs. The substructure lies between the tabletop and the cast iron leg. It gives the screw "more meat" so that the legs are more stable. If the legs are connected directly to the table top, there is a risk of the screw tearing out when the table is moved.
The table top must be cleaned as a minimum for hygiene reasons. We draw on a wealth of experience to decide the extent to which the table top is sanded, depending on its condition and the desired result. Either the old finish (lacquer or oil) is completely sanded off and freshly oiled or only minimally sanded and sealed with wax.
Wobbly tables stabilised again. Solid wood always works. Accordingly, they are not always straight but slightly curved. If you then fit the legs, the table may wobble. We make sure that this is not the case with our tables.

Chests of drawers & cupboards

Check all drawers and doors and make any necessary adjustments.
We pay special attention to the storage surface of chests of drawers. If necessary, gently sanded and treated with oil/varnish or wax for a fresh appearance. Depending on the piece of furniture, we decide how much sanding and how it is sealed again.
Wobbly legs are identified and repaired.

Missing shelves replaced
Light to medium scratches are concealed during polishing.
Felt glides glued under the feet.

Restored condition:

On request: Sides also lightly sanded and sealed.
On request: Drawer inserts repaired/renewed. So that the drawers glide perfectly again.

You can decide for yourself what else should be done for you in the restored state.

Lamps

Old lamps are usually covered in a thick layer of dust, which is a time-consuming job to clean.

When we buy, we make sure that the objects fit a young target audience. That means between 25-50, although of course we have younger and older customers. However, we have a relative target audience that has not necessarily ever bought antiques before. But today's zeitgeist is increasingly moving away from mass-produced items without soul and spirit and more towards time-honoured, handcrafted objects.

This is where we come in. Because of their age, our clientele usually wants uncomplicated but timeless furniture. Slim and not bulky. Easy to combine with modern elements. Warm colours and quality material like oak or walnut. We buy our goods according to these aspects. If you like this selection, you should definitely visit us.

You will find all the information you need under the menu item "Purchase". We have to reject most of what is offered to us. We have a certain style that we would like to offer our customers, 90% of the offered goods do not fit into it. But maybe yours does, an enquiry costs nothing and will be answered in any case.

No, absolutely not. It is more important to us that you are satisfied. You would have to pay for the return shipment. However, we will organise it for you.
